I just wanted to let people know who have been following (or used to follow me) that the hobby is still alive. There was a long period of time where life got in the way and I couldn’t do anything with the table. There was always a part of me that wanted to get back into it even though day after day went by without being able to get the “spark” back. It wasn’t until my wife suggested that I go downstairs anyway and just do SOMETHING on the table. “You never know…”
Well, it worked. This was about a month ago. I went down there just expecting to stand there and piddle for a minute and then come back up. But, I found myself getting interested. It was rough at first. I did it for a few days and then there was another week or so of not doing anything. But now it’s been over a week that I’ve done something on the table every night after supper. The more days in a row I did it, the more the bug took hold.
I’ve been working on laying track. The layout I have in mind is very large but is firmly in my mind now. Since the track is old and the design of how two pieces of track make electrical contact is very temperamental, I have to check electrical continuity after each piece I add. This evening I had to change something in the middle of the layout that I had already put down. I was not looking forward to it because I know it would upset some of the surrounding track joints, messing up continuity. Well, it did. I left it this evening with a break (electrical) in the middle of the layout. I’ll hopefully tackle that problem tomorrow evening.
Glad you got back to it.
