Four months ago I finished opening all my boxes, expecting to jump right into the hobby. Well, if you’ve been following, you know that I discovered some unfinished wiring work under the table. Having to do it under a low table with the top on has been a long slow process.
Well, today I finally finished the wiring. Next weekend I can finally start the hobby. I already have a layout in mind and plenty of track to make it happen. The next step is to clean all the track, put it all together and check for continuity.
One thing I don’t have though is power, so now I get to start the process of shopping for power. I know almost everyone I know has opted for a DC power supply. Well, I’m toying around with using pure DC power…batteries. Yes, that limits my voltage options to 6,12, 18 and beyond if I want to go there, but I’ve always been one for real DC, not artificial. It’s going to be fun designing the switching circuits for the batteries so I can switch between all of the above.
All sorts of cool things are ahead. One of them designing a control center. But most of them can wait until I actually get the cars running around the track again.
I’m finally current with my blog. No more archival posts. Everything from here on out will be current, present day happenings.
